Customer Service

    Our friendly and highly-trained customer service staff averages over 30 years of experience in the camera repair field. We can answer nearly any question you have and if not, can direct you to someone who can.  We offer a FREE film camera check over the counter where we can check your camera's shutter speeds, film winding mechanism, and visibly inspect for any wear that may cause problems in the future.

Medium Format Camera Repair

    Medium format camera bodies and lenses have been a mainstay here at California Precision Service.  We take great pride in our work and demand excellence in any medium format repair.  From repairing a jammed cocking mechanism, a broken drive spring, torn or missing light seals, damaged baffles, or baffles that don't open or close properly, we can repair all mechanical malfunctions of medium format camera bodies.  All medium format bodies are fully inspected and adjusted to factory specifications.  We have been repairing Hasselblad and Mamiya medium format camera bodies for many years and continue to be one of the few camera companies left in the United States that have the skills and knowledge required to continue repairing these amazing mechanical wonders.

Digital SLR (DSLR) Camera Repair

    We have led the way in DSLR camera repair by being the first to offer affordable CCD sensor cleaning and same-day service².  From damaged memory card slots and circuits, mirror box problems, shutter problems and error 99 and error 5 issues, we can repair it all.  We repair nearly all digital SLR cameras on-site¹ including Nikon, Canon, Pentax, Olympus and Sony.  All digital SLR camera repairs include a CCD or CMOS sensor cleaning, a general function check and external cleaning. Firmware upgrades are available upon request.

Compact Digital Camera Repair

    We are quickly becoming well known for our level of experience with compact digital camera repair. We have full factory support and often communicate with factory technicians to obtain the very latest of repair information.  We repair nearly all Nikon, Canon, Pentax, and Olympus compact digital cameras on-site and all cameras are repaired to full factory specifications.  We utilize factory-standard adjustment tools and state-of-the-art computer equipment and software.  We also can answer nearly any question you may have about your compact digital camera including problems downloading using USB, the correct batteries to use and what memory cards are compatible with your camera.

Digital Image Recovery

    Since the digital age, it has been a common occurrence for digital images to become corrupted or 'lost' on digital media cards.  Ever since our first customer with this problem came through our door we have been recovering lost images and burning them on CD-ROMs for our customers.  Please contact us for more information and pricing.

Point-and-shoot and SLR Film Camera Repair

    We have an extensive inventory of film camera parts and can repair nearly all point-and-shoot and SLR film cameras on-site¹.  Typical problems we see include (but are not limited to): broken film doors, damaged battery doors, damaged shutter mechanisms, mirror box problems, broken rewind knobs, worn or missing light seals, and much, much more.  We inspect all functions of your camera and repair it to full factory specifications.

Lens Repair

    We have been repairing lenses since we've started doing business over 30 years ago.  We repair all major brand lenses such as: Tamron, Nikon, Canon, Pentax, Hasselblad and Mamiya to name a few.  We can replace Ultra-sonic auto-focus motors, image-stabilizers, damaged apertures, broken cam barrels and much more.  All lenses are repaired using factory-standard adjustment tools and projection testers.  If you have a lens that isn't in this list, please feel free to contact us.

Video Camcorder Repair

    Our technicians have been repairing video camcorders since they recorded on VHS!  We have extensive knowledge of all things video related and although the digital age has brought about some of the smallest video camcorders ever made, we have continued to expand our knowledge in this area.  From Mini-DV, DVD, SD, to Memory Stick models, we can repair nearly all of them.  Some of the major brands we repair are Canon and Sony, to name a couple.  However, due to limited parts availability for older models (more than 5 years old) please contact us prior to sending your camcorder in for repair.

Canon XL-1 Repair

    We have recieved many requests for XL-1 repair and we are able to repair nearly all problems we have seen, however, due to limited parts availability please contact us first.

Flash Repair

    We repair Nikon Speedlight and Canon Speedlite Flash guns on a regular basis, here at CPS. We often receive repair requests from media corporations and law enforcement and it is our goal to repair these units as quickly as possible. In the case of hot shoe replacement we usually get the units back to the customer in less than a week³. We can diagnose any problems you are having with your flash gun and typically have it ready for pick-up or delievery in a month or less.

¹ Some repairs may require factory service due to parts availability, over-all cost of repair, or in some cases the factory may request that the equipment be sent to them for evaluation.

² Same-day CCD/CMOS sensor cleaning service is by appointment only.  Please contact us in advance to arrange a drop-off and pick-up time. We request a minimum of 3 hours to professionaly clean your senor.
